Wage claim lawyer

I grew up locally in Portland, Oregon graduating from Portland’s own Woodrow Wilson High School and Portland State University.  I left the Northwest to continue my education at Texas Tech University. There I obtained both a Master of Business Administration (“MBA”) and a Juris Doctorate (Law) degrees.

After graduating I returned to Portland, Oregon. For approximately 19 years, I have helped Oregon employees to collect their wages by suing their current or former employers, bosses, and management. In particular, I focus on helping employees recover wages and penalties in overtime wage claims, minimum wage claims, unlawful deduction from wages claims, and late payment of final wage claims. I have prosecuted these wage claims for individuals and as part of large groups in class action wage claim  cases. I have also represented employees for employment harassment, employment family leave, and employment discrimination claims. As a result of my litigation efforts, thousands were able to recover money damages, wages, penalty wages, costs, and attorney fees for prosecuting their claims.

Large corporate defendants can hire the biggest and best defense firms. Individual employess need someone who is not intimidated and can stand up to these corporate giants and who will fight to help them recover wages and penalties that they are due under Oregon law. I have prosecuted cases against both large and small Defendants such as: Swift Transportation, Solarworld, Reser’s Fine Foods, Pendum, Titus Transportation, Wal-Mart, Addus Healthcare, Circuit City Stores, El Paso Energy Petroleum, Freightliner, Columbia Collectors, Ace Parking, Xerox, Decision One, Tigard Tendercare, and many others. I do not get intimidated and will continue to fight for the rights of individuals.

I grew up in St. Louis and earned dual bachelor’s degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia before moving to San Diego, where I worked as a writer, editor, and public interest advocate and earned my Master’s degree in Creative Writing. I later moved to Portland, Oregon, where I graduated from Lewis & Clark Law School with my Juris Doctor (law) degree

My practice focuses on Oregon and Washington employment law. I help employees recover their wages in late payment, overtime, minimum wage, and unlawful deduction claims. I also help employees who have been wrongfully fired or who have suffered discrimination in the workplace due to age, ethnicity, sex/gender, disability, or other protected status, and employees who have been denied their rights to leave time under federal (FMLA) or state (OFLA and WA-FLA) laws. I work hard for my clients to recover money damages, unpaid and lost wages, and costs and attorney’s fees. When I am not working, I spend time volunteering at a low-cost clinic and enjoying Portland’s arts and music.

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Hampshire in 1988 and then graduated from the University of New Hampshire School of Law in 2001. I graduated law school in the top 15% of my class. I then made my way out west to Portland, Oregon with my dog and received my Oregon bar license in 2003. I am licensed to practice law in Oregon and Washington.

My practice has focused on employment law. More specifically I help Oregon and Washington employees recover their wages, overtime wages, minimum wage from their current or former employers, bosses, and management. I also represent employees whose employers did not timely pay all their wages at termination or whose employer/boss unlawfully deducted wages from their paychecks. I have represented my clients both in individual wage claims and as large groups in multi-million dollar class action wage claims. I have worked closely with David Schuck assisting our clients to recover their wages, minimum wages, overtime wages, money damages, penalty wages, costs, and attorney fees.

When I am not working, I spend most of my time in the mountains and beaches of Oregon and other areas in the Pacific Northwest. I have a passion for adventure and travel that led me to move across the United States to Portland, Oregon and to visit countries in Southeast Asia, Europe and Central America.

Having lived in Southern Oregon my whole life, I moved to Portland to attend law school at Lewis & Clark Law School. Through law school, my interest remained in employment law. I received my juris doctorate (law) degree in December 2003 and was licensed to practice law in Oregon in April 2004.

My practice has focused on employment law, primarily wage and hour issues. My philosophy in wage and hour cases is simple: if an employee works, they should be paid their wages in full and on time. I have represented over 100,000 employees in wage and hour cases, both individually and in class actions. For my clients, I have recovered their unpaid wages, overtime wages, minimum wages, unlawfully deducted wages, penalty wages, civil penalties, and liquidated damages
