Schuck Law’s attorneys prevailed in arguing before the Oregon Supreme Court that employers must scrupulously follow the law when making deductions from wages. Here, the employer had failed to pay any wages on payday and had instead been deducting all wages as the employee’s rent for living on the property, without any accounting or written documentation. The Oregon Supreme Court held that an employee prevails on a wage claim where the employer took unlawful deductions and failed to pay all wages on payday. Schuck Law successfully argued that employers can’t use “self help” to avoid the requirements of Oregon wage law.
